A NWS EMPLOYEE AND STORM CHASERS BOTH REPORTED A BRIEF
LANDSPOUT TORNADO TUESDAY AFTERNOON NEAR SHELTON.
LANDSPOUT IS A SLANG TERM FOR A TORANDO NOT ASSOCIATED
WITH A MESOCYCLONE IN THE PARENT STORM. LANDSPOUTS OCCUR
IN A VERY UNSTABLE AND FAVORABLE WIND SHEAR ENVIRONMENT
NEAR THE SURFACE. THE LAND SPOUT LASTED AROUND 3 MINUTES
OR SO...WITH TOP WINDS LIKELY AROUND 50 TO 60 MPH.
