AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH WILL APPROACH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST ON SUNDAY
AS AN ASSOCIATED 90 TO 100 KT MID-LEVEL JET MOVES INLAND AHEAD OF
THE TROUGH. WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS A BELT OF ENHANCED MID-LEVEL
MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MID-LEVEL JET. THIS MOISTURE WILL
CONTINUE TO STREAM INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST SUNDAY WHICH COMBINED
WITH STRONG LARGE-SCALE ASCENT...SHOULD RESULT IN ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IN THE COASTAL AREAS OF WA AND NW ORE. THE
MID-LEVEL JET WILL CREATE STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR PROFILES ACROSS
THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WHICH COMBINED WITH DIRECTIONAL SHEAR IN THE
LOW-LEVELS SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR A MARGINAL SEVERE THREAT. ANY STORM
THAT CAN EXHIBIT ROTATION MAY HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG WIND
GUSTS.
