07/26/2012 STEUBEN NY NWS STORM SURVEY
TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ON WELCH ROAD IN CORNING. THERE
WERE MANY TREE SNAPS AND UPROOTS. FOR THE NEXT 3 TO 4
MILES...THE TORNADO LIFTED AT TIMES. THE MOST
SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED ALONG BROWN HOLLOW ROAD. A
SWATH OF DAMAGE...INCLUDING APPROXIMATELY 200-300
TREES...WAS SEEN. WINDS REACHED 100-110 MPH. THE DAMAGE
PATH APPEARED TO END JUST WEST OF MURPHY ROAD...STILL IN
SOUTH CORNING. THE TORNADO WAS ABOUT 800 YARDS WIDE AND
TRAVELED 6.5 MILES. MAXIMUM WINDS WERE BETWEEN 90-110
MPH. RATED EF-1.
