A LARGE UPPER TROUGH IS IN PLACE THIS MORNING OVER THE EASTERN
PACIFIC...WITH A BAND OF STRONG ONSHORE LOW/MID LEVEL WINDS
STRETCHING ACROSS CENTRAL/NORTHERN CA INTO THE NORTHERN GREAT BASIN.
RADAR LOOPS SHOW A NARROW LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OFF THE
COAST OF SOUTHWEST ORE/NORTHERN CA THAT WILL MOVE INLAND THIS
MORNING. DESPITE WEAK INSTABILITY...ISOLATED STRONG TO SEVERE WIND
GUSTS CANNOT BE RULED OUT ALONG THE COAST. PLEASE REFER TO
MESOSCALE DISCUSSION NUMBER 2127 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
THE ONSHORE FETCH WILL BE MAINTAINED THROUGH THE FORECAST
PERIOD...WHILE A SERIES OF EMBEDDED SHORTWAVE TROUGHS ROTATE INTO
CA. INSTABILITY IS NOT FORECAST TO INCREASE...SO THE CONFIDENCE IN
REPEAT BOUTS OF STRONG CONVECTION SIMILAR TO THIS MORNING IS LOW.
HOWEVER...THESE SUBSEQUENT SYSTEMS WILL NEED TO BE WATCHED THIS
AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT FOR LOCALLY GUSTY/DAMAGING WINDS AS WELL.
